Enabling engagement with the Audit Committee

Our client, the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) for a New Zealand central government agency was facing the challenge that senior executives were under-engaged with the Audit Commitee. This was a time when there was a change in the Government of the day, and the agency had already committed to a full portfolio of projects.

We were commissioned by the CAE to systematically review the Risk & Assurance framework and in that context, analyse key risks and to assist the CAE in shaping the engagement of the Executive Leadership Team with the Audit Commitee.

We examined the public policy and organisational context and independently analysed the sources of information. We then applied the ISO 31000 Risk Management framework. On that basis, developed design-led deliverables that enabled the CAE to comprehensively engage the audit committee with the Executive Leadership team. This won prioritised actions to protect the agency and better execute on its new policy priorities.
